Dr. Alan C. Peterson II

Director of Sustainability

Alan C. Peterson, II, Ph.D., is the Assistant Director of Ecosystem Development for Invest Atlanta, where he is responsible for facilitating economic development initiatives primarily consisting of business attraction and business retention, and expansion efforts.

Dr. Peterson has over a decade of economic development, community development, and public administration experience, having served in public and private economic development and community development roles in the Greater Houston and Metro Atlanta regions.

As the Director of Economic Development for Global TIES Alliance, Dr. Peterson will support Global TIES Alliance’s vision and mission by facilitating programing and educational sessions centered around economic development, strategic planning efforts, sister city and foreign direct investment initiatives, and business expansion for the purpose of changing futures.

Dr. Peterson received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from Morehouse College (Atlanta, Georgia); and his Master’s Degree in Public Administration (MPA) with a concentration in Public Policy from Texas Southern University (Houston, Texas). Dr. Peterson received his Doctoral Degree – Ph.D. in Urban Planning and Environmental Policy from Texas Southern University (Houston, Texas) with a research and dissertation focus in Economic Development. Additionally, Dr. Peterson received his Georgia Certified Economic Developer (GCED) certification from the University of Georgia – Carl Vinson Institute of Government.
